This Privacy Policy explains what personal data NextQuiz (“we”, “us”) collects when you use the NextQuiz website at nextquiz.atuandev.com and its Live Games, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to Users (signed in with Google) and Guests (not signed in) alike. The words we use, such as Quiz, Host and Player Card, mean the same as in our Terms of Service.
In short: we collect only what NextQuiz needs to work. Players can join without an account. We don’t sell your data, show ads, or use analytics or advertising trackers.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The team that runs NextQuiz is the controller of the personal data described here. For any question or request about your data, email atuandev@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
When you sign in with Google
- Your name, email address and profile picture, and your Google account identifier.
- The sign-in tokens Google returns, which let us confirm it is you. We never see your Google password.
- Your display name, if you change it in Settings, and the date you joined.
- For each signed-in session: when it started and expires, the IP address and the browser’s user agent, so we can keep your account secure.
When you create a Quiz
- Everything in the Quiz: its name, description, cover, categories, language, Visibility, questions, answers, fun facts and media, plus every published Quiz Revision.
- Pictures you upload, with their file type, size and dimensions. Don’t upload pictures that show other people without their permission.
- The words you type when searching for pictures, GIFs or videos in the editor.
When you host or play a Live Game
- The Game PIN, the Quiz played, and when the game started and ended.
- Each Player’s Player Card (nickname and Mascot), and if they are signed in, their account.
- Answers, whether they were correct, points, response times, scores and final ranks.
- Ratings that Players give a Quiz after the game.
A Guest Player gives us only a nickname and a Mascot. We don’t ask Guests for their name, email address or age, and we ask Hosts not to require it.
Technical data
Like any website, our servers and hosting providers receive technical details with each request, such as your IP address, browser and device type and the page requested. We use them to deliver the Service, prevent abuse (for example, rate limits on media search) and fix problems.
3. How we use it
- To run NextQuiz: sign you in, save and publish your Quizzes, run Live Games in real time, show Leaderboards and the Podium, and keep your play history and library.
- To let people discover Quizzes: Public Quizzes are listed, searchable and shown with their Creator’s display name, picture and average rating.
- To keep NextQuiz safe: protect accounts, prevent spam and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
- To fix and improve the Service: find bugs and understand how features perform, using our own data only, without third-party analytics.
- To talk to you: reply when you write to us, and tell you about important changes to the Service, these policies or your account. We don’t send marketing emails.
- To meet legal duties: when the law requires it, for example in response to a valid request from authorities.
4. Our legal bases
Where data protection laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or Vietnam’s Decree 13/2023/ND-CP on personal data protection apply, we rely on:
- Contract: processing needed to provide the Service you asked for, such as your account, your Quizzes and the Live Games you join.
- Consent: you choose to sign in, create content and join games. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting content or asking us to delete your account; this doesn’t affect what we did before.
- Legitimate interests: keeping NextQuiz secure and working well, in ways that don’t override your rights.
- Legal obligation: where the law requires us to keep or disclose data.
5. What other people can see
- Public and Unlisted Quizzes show their content and the Creator’s display name and picture to anyone who opens them. A Private Quiz is visible only to you.
- In a Live Game, everyone in the game, and anyone watching a shared or streamed screen, sees Player Cards, scores and ranks. The Host also sees each Player’s results.
- Ratings appear only as part of a Quiz’s average, never with your name.
6. Who we share data with
We don’t sell or rent personal data, and we don’t share it with advertisers. We share it only with the service providers that help us run NextQuiz, and only what each one needs:
- Google, to sign you in. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare, which hosts the website and stores uploaded pictures.
- Our database and server hosting providers, which store account, Quiz and Live Game data for us.
- Unsplash and Giphy, which receive the search words you type in the editor. Pictures and GIFs from them load from their servers, so your browser connects to them when a Quiz shows one.
- YouTube, when a Quiz plays a video clip. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), but YouTube still receives data such as your IP address when the video loads.
We may also disclose data when required by law, to protect the safety of people or the Service, or if NextQuiz is taken over or reorganised, in which case this policy, or one at least as protective, continues to apply.
7. Cookies and storage on your device
NextQuiz uses only what it needs to work:
- Sign-in cookies, set when you sign in, keep you signed in and protect the Google sign-in step. They are essential, so there is no setting to turn them off; signing out ends the session.
- Local storage in your browser keeps your Player tokens, so you can rejoin a Live Game after a refresh and rate the Quiz afterwards, and your sound settings. This data stays on your device until you clear it.
We don’t use analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Embedded YouTube videos and Unsplash or Giphy media may be subject to those providers’ own cookie practices. You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings, but signing in and rejoining a game won’t work without them.
8. How long we keep it
- Account data: for as long as your account exists.
- Sessions: until they expire or you sign out.
- Quizzes and uploads: until you delete them or your account. A deleted Quiz disappears from NextQuiz right away.
- Live Game results: kept so Hosts and Players can see their play history. If a signed-in Player or Host deletes their account, the results stay but are no longer linked to them.
- Data on your device: until you clear your browser storage.
When we no longer need data, we delete or anonymise it, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
9. How we protect it
All traffic to NextQuiz is encrypted with HTTPS. Access to our systems is limited to the people who run the Service, sign-in is handled by Google, and secret tokens such as Player seat tokens are stored only in hashed form. No system is perfectly secure, so if we learn of a breach that affects your data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
10. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours, including Vietnam, the United States and countries in the European Union. When data leaves your country, we rely on the safeguards the law provides, such as the providers’ standard contractual clauses, and on providers that commit to protecting it.
11. Children
You must be at least 13 to create an account, or older where local law requires. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from younger children. Children may still join a Live Game as Guests under adult supervision, sharing only a nickname and a Mascot. Teachers and other Hosts who play with children should make sure nicknames don’t contain real names.
If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or shared personal data with us, email atuandev@gmail.com and we will delete it.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your data or your whole account;
- send you your data in a portable format;
- limit or stop how we use your data, or object to it;
- withdraw consent you gave us.
You can change your display name in Settings and delete your Quizzes in your library at any time. For anything else, email atuandev@gmail.com from the address you sign in with. We will reply within 30 days, or sooner if the law requires, and won’t charge you for it. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.
You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. In Vietnam that is the Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05) of the Ministry of Public Security.
13. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when NextQuiz or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change affects how we use your data in an important way, we will tell signed-in Users on NextQuiz before it takes effect.
